Maxwell R. Thurman
Maxwell Reid Thurman ( born February 18, 1931 † 1 December 1995) was an American general. From 1983 to 1987 he held the position of Vice Chief of Staff of the Army. In addition, the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command was under him. From September 1989 to November 1990 he was commander of United States Southern Command and therefore commander of U.S. forces during the U.S. invasion of Panama.
