May Warden

May Warden ( born May 9, 1891 in Leeds, † October 5, 1978 in London) was a British actress.

Life and career

May Warden was born as the daughter of American actor Edward Warden and his wife Maud in Leeds. Maud broke up with her ​​middle-class family in order to marry the penniless actor. Her parents lived a life of no fixed abode, so May Warden therefore never went to school. Your theater career began at age twelve. Since the late 1940s, she appeared as Miss Sophie in the sketch Dinner for One in various variety shows of the British seaside resort of Blackpool. Together with her stage partner, comedian Freddie Frinton, the then 72 -year-old Warden was known by a performance of Dinner for One in the NDR television program " Good evening, Peter Franks box " and a subsequent TV recording in Germany.
