Waldemar Bonsels was one of the most widely read writer in the 1920s. In his books, Maya the Bee and her adventures (first published 1912) and sky people (first published 1915) he recorded his childhood experiences in the outdoors around the Bredenbeker pond in Ahrensburg and ( after moving in 1910 to Schleissheim near Munich ) his observations in the park of Castle Schleißheim. Drawing technique
