Al - Mayadin (Arabic الميادين, DMG al - Mayadin ) is a small town in eastern Syria in the governorate of Deir ez -Zor.

Al - Mayadin lies on the right ( southern ) bank of the Euphrates, 12 km below the confluence of the Khabur and 45 kilometers southeast of Deir ez- Zor on the main road in the direction of Abu Kamal on the Iraqi border. The city had calculated according to an estimate 48 922 inhabitants in 2010 were 70 162 inhabitants in 2003. The region is part of the Syrian Desert with less than 120 mm annual rainfall. The little precipitation falls in the winter months. Here agriculture is only possible in an irrigated strip along the Euphrates. Even grazing areas for cattle nomads are rare.

In 1875 the town had about 1,000 residents whose livelihood was agriculture (corn, wheat, barley) and semi-nomadic sheep farming. Wool and butter were brought up with donkeys to Aleppo. In the 1932 census, there were 2532 inhabitants, of whom some were Christians. For 1970 15.000 inhabitants were estimated.

About four kilometers south-west, across the main road is on a hill, the ruins of Qal ʿ at al- Rahba from the 12th century to see.
