Maybelline is an American cosmetics manufacturer with headquarters New York City and a subsidiary of L' Oréal.

History

The chemist T. L. Williams invented the mascara cosmetics product in 1913. This mascara is initially consisted of coal dust and Vaseline. In 1914 he founded the cosmetics company Maybelline New York City. The brand name was composed of the first name of his sister Maybel and the term vaseline. In subsequent years, the small shipping companies financed by advertising in magazines. The success of the company grew and women demanded in local drugstores by Maybelline products.

In the 1920s, the cosmetics company advertised with the slogan " Eyes did glow with enchantment ." Maybelline published in the late 1920s, their first eye shadow series. After the overwhelming demand of their products, the company published in 1932 the " Cake Mascara " in retail stores. This mascara stone was developed by the cosmetics company Max Factor.

In the 1960s, the Group performs the "Ultra Lash ", a development of mascaras, worldwide. This Ultra Lash consisted of a cylinder container and a spiral brush. In 1971 appears the " Great Lash " mascara the most successful product of Maybelline. In the 1970s, the product range with makeup and nail polish series is extended.

In 1996 the company was acquired by the French cosmetics company L' Oréal. Since then, Maybelline Jade is one of his trademarks.
