Mayo District

Mayo ( Thai: มายอ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the central region of the province of Pattani and is the only Amphoe no limit to other provinces or to the coast. The Pattani province is located southeast of South Thailand in the Gulf of Thailand.

Geography

Adjacent counties and regions are (from north clockwise): Amphoe the Yaring, Panare, Thung Yang Daeng and Yarang. All Amphoe located in the province of Pattani.

History

The area of present-day county Mayo was originally part of Amphoe Yaring. In 1900 the county was established, initially under the name Rako ( รา เกาะ ). The following year, at the opening of a new administrative building in Tambon Mayo, the county was named after the central tambon Mayo.

Management

Amphoe Mayo is divided into 13 subdistricts ( tambon), which continued in 58 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

Mayo is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it consists of the whole Tambon Mayo.

In addition, there are ten " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
