Maywood (Band)

Maywood is a Dutch pop duo from the city of Harlingen. It consists of the two sisters, Alice May (actually Alie ( Aaltje ) de Vries ) and Caren Wood ( actually Doetie ( Doetje ) de Vries ).

Band History

During the 1970s, both sang in a number of different bands. 1979 decided the sisters continue to operate under the name Maywood as pop duo and a repertoire of joyful, English dance numbers.

Right away the first single You Treated Me Wrong reached the Dutch Singles Chart. Her first Top Ten hit landed Maywood in March 1980 with Give Me Back My Love. With this single both succeeded and abroad made ​​it into the charts. The follow-up single Late at Night in July 1980 rose to the top of the Dutch charts and stayed there for three weeks. The only number - one hit of the band, the Maywood published in accent-free German language under the title of lights.

After several other hits in the Top 20 took off mid-1980s from the success of Maywood. 1990 took the two to the Netherlands with their only hit in their native language, Ik wil all met each delen, at the Euro Vision Song Contest in Zagreb in part, but only reached the 15th place.

As of 1995, Alice May and Caren Wood went their separate ways and tried their solo careers to build, albeit without resounding success. Made headlines the sisters only in 1999, when they fought their dispute over the rights to the name Maywood in court.

After almost 18 years of separation, Maywood 2013 have reunited. Gerard Joling has managed to Maywood to bring back together. On October 18, 2013 Alice and Caren reappeared as a duo in Maywood " Ziggodome " in Amsterdam. After that, the sisters decided to be back on stage together. It will be released a new CD Maywood.
