Mazowsze (folk group)

The State Song and Dance Ensemble " Mazowsze " patr. Tadeusz Sygietyński (Polish Państwowy Zespół Ludowy Pieśni i Tanca " Mazowsze " in. Tadeusza Sygietyńskiego ) is one of the largest Polish artistic ensembles representing the Polish tradition of folk music and folk dance.

History

The Ensemble Mazowsze was established by a decree of the Ministry of Culture and Art on October 8, 1948 to life. With the founding of Professor Tadeusz Sygietyński was commissioned. Task of the ensemble was the care of Polish folk music inspired by the traditional repertoire of the folk dance and folk song. The premiere took place on November 6, 1950 in Teatr Polski in Warsaw. After its premiere in Warsaw followed by other appearances in Poland, but also abroad. This was followed by trips to the Eastern Bloc, and later in the Western world, such as Paris ( 1954), New York (1960) and further 6,500 performances in Poland and 49 other countries.

In 1955, Tadeusz died Sygietyński, the founder of the ensemble. This fact cast a shadow on the further planning and development of the ensemble. It excelled even dissolve the intention of Mazowsze. Mrs. Mira Zimińska - Sygietyńska then took over the lead and kept it for over 40 years until her death in 1997. Thereafter Mazowsze was successively headed by Brygida Linartas, Włodzimierz Jakubas and Jacek Kalinowski.

Repertoire

Originally, the ensemble's repertoire of songs and dances of the region of Mazovia ( Central Poland, therefore, is also the name of the ensemble ). Later, the program was expanded to include dances and songs many ethnographic regions of Poland and even abroad. The Polish national dances, such Krakowiak, mazurka and polonaise, besides, have the highest priority. Not only folklore is implemented artistic, there are also sacred and patriotic songs presented.
