Mazut

Fuel Oil (Russian Мазут, from the Turkotatarischen ) is a viscous high-boiling distillation residue of crude oil, which has a boiling point of about 350 ° C. Depending on the origin contains the oil up to two -thirds of the mass of black oil. It is used as fuel and lubricant or processed by cracking process for gasoline. Black oil contains small mineral material, mainly iron and calcium oxides. The calorific value of mazut is about 3-4 % less than the gasoline fraction.

A quality criterion for mazut is the sulfur content. This will vary from 0.5 to 3.5 %.
