MC Lyte

MC Lyte, Lana Michele Moorer actually ( born October 11, 1971 in Queens, New York City, New York) is an American rapper and actress.

Life

The mid-1980s, a period dominated in the hip- hop exclusively by men, Lana Moorer discovered her rap talent. With only twelve years she took her first single "I cram to understand U". This new style of rap quickly found hearing. So the record label Priority Records, the Rapgrößen like NWA, Master P, Ice Cube, Mack 10 and Snoop Dogg was one of his proteges, attentive to Lyte. Together they worked on the debut album, " Lyte as I rock " which came in 1988 on the market. The combination of self-confident, socially critical lyrics and her exceptional talent gave the New Yorker also recognition among their male counterparts. Only a year after the debut released their second studio album " Eyes on This". With the included track " Cha cha cha" she stormed the charts for the first time. Style

The musical style of the first two albums is unmistakably hardcore rap. Loose sayings and rough rhymes were her trademark. 1991, changed her style in R'n'B. Why she decided, never became really clear. Some suspect that their record company advised on the type of change in order to increase sales.
