McCormick County, South Carolina

McCormick County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is McCormick.

Geography

The County is located in western South Carolina, bounded on the southwest by Georgia and has an area of 1020 square kilometers, of which 89 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Abbeville County, Greenwood County, Edgefield County and Georgia to the following counties: Columbia County, Lincoln County and Elbert County.

History

McCormick County was formed in 1914. It was named after Cyrus McCormick, an American Farmer Irish origin, businessman and publisher of a newspaper.
