McGregor is a city in the town of Langenberg district of Cape Winelands, Western Cape Province in South Africa. The city lies 245 meters above sea level and has 3,125 inhabitants ( 2011).

History

The city was founded in 1861 as a settlement Lady Grey. She had over the next few years only about 50 inhabitants. To avoid confusion with the town of Lady Grey near Aliwal North, the name was changed in 1905. The city was named in honor of Reverend Andrew McGregor, who was for 40 years pastor of the district of Robertson. 1907 McGregor was awarded the city status.
