McLeod County, Minnesota

The McLeod County is a county located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, the County had 36 651 inhabitants and a population density of 28.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Glencoe.

Geography

The County is located in south-central Minnesota. It has an area of 1310 square kilometers, of which 36 square kilometers are water surface. At the McLeod County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The McLeod County was formed on March 1, 1856 from parts of Carver County and the Sibley County. It was named after Martin McLeod, an early and well-known fur trader.
