MCM6

MCM6 ( detail: DNA replication lizenzierender factor MCM6 ) is a protein whose presence in the cell nucleus of eukaryotic cells is required to initiate DNA replication: After the G1 phase of cell division MCM6 binds to the chromatin; this appears to be necessary in order to avoid a repeated replication of the DNA.

In addition, part of the MCM6 MCM complex, which is responsible for the untwisting as helicase DNA before replication. An intron of the MCM6 gene is in position as a promoter for the following LCT gene ( lactase ); some distributions of MCM6 are therefore responsible for hereditary lactose intolerance, in particular for the relevant large differences between European and non - European populations.

Proliferating Hodgkin's lymphoma cells, and other cancer cell lines have a high content of MCM6.
