MCMXC A.D. (1990 ) was the first album by the band Enigma. It appeared in 1990 in Germany and in Europe, 1991 in the U.S.. The producer was Michael Cretu, the album reached # 3 on the charts in Germany. The album reached number one in 41 countries.

Ned Raggett of Allmusic wrote the album is something that " should not give " a blending of " Euro disco and new age spheres" with style. Cretu have an "ear " had everything working, which is why Sadeness have become a worldwide hit. The album invite all listeners to sit back, relax and enjoy a pleasant journey. He forgave four out of five stars. Entertainment Weekly awarded the grade A (corresponds to 1 - in German school grades ). Marisa Fox wrote: ".
