Mean time to recovery

Mean Time To Recover or even Mean Time To Repair ( MTTR abbreviated as ) is defined as the mean time to repair after a failure of a system.

This indicates how long the recovery of the system takes on the average. Thus it is an important parameter for the system availability.

During this time, the scheduling of tasks and resources is included. It should be kept as short as possible.

In contrast, the system reliability is strongly dependent on the Mean Time Between Failures ( MTBF).
