Mecano

Mecano was one of the most famous pop groups of the 1980s and early 1990s in Spain.

Stylistically, they were beginning to settle in the vicinity of Synthpop and New Romantic / New Wave flow. Later, however, these elements are passed, and they became a style pop band imaging with different trends of current pop to Latin.

The group consisted of singer Ana Torroja and the brothers Ignacio " Nacho " and José María Cano. They sold millions of their albums and had great success, in addition to Spain and in France, Germany, Belgium, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, and especially in Mexico.

Their first single was Hoy no me puedo levantar. Your albums with the biggest successes are Entre el cielo y el suelo, Descanso dominical and Aidalai. In 1988, the group chose the then unknown Penelope Cruz among more than 200 applicants from as lead actress for her music video La fuerza del destino. The group broke up in 1998.

Nacho Cano led on 7 April 2005 on a musical titled Hoy no me puedo levantar.

The most popular song of the group in Germany is Hijo de la luna - Son of the Moon - ( No. 45, 1989/90 ), of which there were multiple cover versions by other musicians later, including the opera singer Montserrat Caballé. A number -one hit in Germany came with the song 1998, the pop singer Loona.
