Mechanical traveller

The Traveller ( dt trolley ) is a portable mooring point of the sheet on sailing ships and provides optimum sail trim. In principle, the Traveller is a trolley that can be moved with the help line to windward or Lee and usually shifts the hole point of the sheet appropriately.

By changing the hole point of the attack angle of the sheet on the tree, and thus the shape of the sail is affected. The farther the traveler is moved to windward, the more the leech of the sail open (more twist) and the sail to be more bulbous total (round ).

In light winds you can move the traveler to windward in order to go higher on the wind can. During a squall or in strong wind the traveler can be shifted to leeward to reduce heeling and weather helm of the boat.
