Mechthild of Bavaria

Mechthild of Bavaria ( * July 12, 1532; † November 2, 1565 in Baden- Baden) was a princess of Bavaria and by marriage Margravine of Baden.

Life

Mechthild was a daughter of the Duke Wilhelm IV of Bavaria (1493-1550) from his first marriage Jakobäa Maria of Baden (1507-1580), daughter of Margrave Philip I of Baden. The princess was initially engaged to Prince Philip Magnus of Brunswick (1527-1553), but this was before the marriage in the Battle of Sievershausen.

They married on January 17, 1557 in Regensburg Margrave Philibert of Baden ( 1536-1569 ).
