Mecklenburg II

In the genus II, the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg Friedrich- Franz Railway arranged various 1849-1856 procured a steam locomotives of the type 1B. Among them were five initially that came with the wheel arrangement locomotives were 1A1.

History

Between 1849 and 1851 Borsig delivered to the Mecklenburg Railway Company five locomotives with the wheel arrangement 1A1, however, differed from the delivered locomotives at the same time of the later genus I. The locomotives BERLIN, BÜTZOW, WARNOW, Magdeburg and STRELITZ given the operating numbers 7, 8, 11, 12 and 15 Soon after the start it turned out that the locomotives in the transport of freight trains between Schwerin and Rostock to the limit performance fell. With a friction mass of 12 tonnes of the locomotives for such a purpose were not suitable. Therefore Borsig delivered in 1851 four locomotives with the wheel arrangement 1B. The locomotives HERCULES, OBOTRIT, Swantewit and RADEGAST received the numbers 16, 18, 19 and 21 With the nationalization in 1873, the RADEGAST KIEL was renamed because already a locomotive class VIII of the State Friedrich -Franz Railway bore this name. 1895 received BÜTZOW, WARNOW, STRELITZ and Hercules the numbers 2, 6, 7 and 8 as the first locomotive KIEL 1891 scrapped. The last locomotive of the genus until 1903 was the STRELITZ in use.

The five locomotives with the wheel arrangement 1A1 were later converted to 1B.

Were used, the locomotives on the routes Schwerin Rostock and Biitzow - Güstrow.

Design features

The locomotives had an internal fork frame. The dreischüssige Langkesselwagen had a steam dome on the average boiler shot. The firebox had an excessive Feurbüchsdecke and a safety valve.

The two-cylinder steam engine was wet on the outside. The cylinders were arranged horizontally and the coupling rod worked on the first axis. The slide boxes were like the Stephenson valve inside.

The dome axes were cushioned by the bottom leaf springs to the frame. The weight balance were compensating lever between the springs. The front wheels have been cushioned by overhead leaf springs on Rahnen.

The screws brake was on the tender. The locomotives possessed a spacious cab with side windows.

The locomotives were used with the tenders 2 4.45 T and 3 T 7.90.
