Mecklenburg T 3

The T 3 of the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg Friedrich- Franz Railway, former Series XVII, was a freight train tank locomotive wheel arrangement C after the model of the Prussian T 3 It was filed later by the Deutsche Reichsbahn as Class 89.80 in their numbering plan.

Of the 68 specimens that were built in the years 1884 to 1906 from different manufacturers, corresponded to 51 ( T3a ) of the older design of the Prussian T 3 with controller attachment. The other 17 ( T3b ) corresponded to the enhanced Prussian T 3 with steam dome. Two locomotives of them received instead of the Allan valve a Heusinger control. They were used mainly in the branch line and shunting. The last locomotive was retired by the Deutsche Reichsbahn of the GDR in 1963.
