Medal "For Distinction in Guarding the State Border of the USSR"

The medal "For the protection of the state border of the USSR " (Russian Медаль « За отличие в охране государственной границы СССР ") was an award from the former Soviet Union, which was founded on 13 July 1950 in one stage. The award of the medal was made to members of the Soviet Border Guard for selfless and brave actions at any border violations for military leadership regarding the inviolability of state borders as well as earned by the structure and organization of the state border.

The 32 mm by measuring silver plated medal shows on its obverse a hilly landscape, a frontier post and a border soldier holding an RPD in his hands. The reverse of the coin shows, however, within two crossed branches, one of which is left out of oak leaves and the right of laurel leaves, a border post with the Russian coat of arms. This pile is overlaid by two diagonally crossed arms in the shape of a gun and a sword in part. Were worn the medal on the left side of the chest Beliehenen to a pentagonal green clasp the edge of which is red. The Interim clasp is of the same nature. It 67 520 medals were awarded.
