Medal for Outstanding Civic Service

The Borgerdådsmedalje was a civilian medal of merit in Norway, which had been introduced by Royal Decree of 10 April 1819. She was last awarded in 1995 and abolished in the spring of 2004.

She was awarded by the king to the proposal of the Department of Justice.

She had two classes: the first class in gold and the 2nd class in silver. The Silver Medal of Merit was not awarded after 1960.

She was awarded for special diligence and efficiency in particular arbitration and conciliation and arbitration system and similar tasks on Civil and service to the Empire. From 1884 also for avid office management and other meritorious services of any kind and also for a single particular act. So people could be awarded, rejected the adoption of the St. Olav's Order for any reason. The medal bore the bust of King Karl Johanns, until it was replaced in 1907 by the image Håkon VII.
