Medardo Rosso

Medardo Rosso ( born June 21, 1858 in Turin, † March 31, 1928 in Milan ) was an Italian- French sculptor.

Life

Medardo Rosso was born the son of a station. The family moved to Milan in 1870. Between 1879 and 1881 he completed his military service in Pavia. During this time he also began to take painting lessons. From 1882 he studied at the Accademia di Brera in Milan, but was ruled out after eleven months from the study. In 1885 he married Giuditta Pozzi, from whom he had a son in the same year. Four years later he moved to Paris, where he in 1896 a foundry einrichtete. In 1900 he met the Dutch artist and patron Etha Fles know. In 1902 he became a French citizen. For a stay in Vienna in 1903 he was hit by a tram and suffered a traumatic brain injury. In 1922 he returned to Milan. From 1927, first became noticeable health problems. He died during an operation.
