Medicine Show

Medicine shows (Eng. about medicine show) were about traveling by horse traders who operated the sale of miracle cures and other products as part of entertainment programs. This form of sales events was especially popular in the United States of the 19th century.

Most of Medicine shows elixirs (snake oil) was offered, which should help against all sorts of ailments. The entertainment was musical performances, magic shows, acrobatic feats, a flea circus, a freak show and the like included.

One of the last and largest medicine shows was the Hadacol Caravan, who moved in the 1940s through the southern United States to market the means " Hadacol ". For stage program included well-known music and Hollywood stars. Until the 1990s into the country musician Ramblin ' Tommy Scott traveled with his Medicine Show by States.

Several later music groups named in the style of medicine shows, including Dr. West 's Medicine Show and Junk band and Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show.
