Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg

The Media Board Berlin -Brandenburg GmbH is a public company for film promotion and investment agency of the German states of Berlin and Brandenburg and contact for film and media professionals in Germany's capital region.

History

The cross-country was founded on 1 January 2004 with the merger of the Film Board and the media office of the two countries, thus leading film promotion and location marketing represents the first time in a house together. It has a funding budget of around 29 million euros a year. Shareholders hold half of the investment banks in the states of Berlin (IBB ) and Brandenburg ( ILB).

Managing director of the media boards was from 2004 to 2010 Petra Müller, who became the successor of Michael Schmid- Ospach as Managing Director of the Film Foundation North Rhine -Westphalia on September 1, 2010.

Film Funding

The Department of Film promotion, since 2004 headed by Kirsten Niehuus, has an annual budget of around 24 million euros. Among the movies that got promoted to the year 2010 around the media board, include the Bollywood production Don 2 with Shah Rukh Khan, Inglourious Basterds by Quentin Tarantino, The White Ribbon by Michael Haneke, The Ghost Writer by Roman Polanski, Identity Unknown by Jaume Collet- Serra, The stranger by Feo Aladag or Kokowääh, Keinohrhasen and Zweiohrküken by Til Schweiger.

Funding is German and international movies in the categories of development, production (fiction, documentary, animation and short films as well as international co-productions), distribution and sale (for the release costs in Germany ). The funding of the media board are conditionally repayable loan and must be fully spent in the Capital Region. They can be combined with other promotions.

Location Marketing

The Department Location Marketing, which is headed by Elmar Giglinger since October 2010, provides for the national and international presentation and profiling for current location information, the country-and industry-wide networking of the film and media industry and supports the establishment of film and media companies. With around 5 million euros in the year, the division also promotes film and media -related projects at the site and the development of innovative audiovisual content in the areas of games, Web 2.0 and Mobile.

The Media Board supports projects and measures for the development, professionalization and presentation of the film and media industry in Berlin -Brandenburg. These include prizes and competitions, festivals, concerts, professionalization measures, children's cinema projects, cultural events and film- cinema -related measures. The Media Board supports with 1 million euros in the development of innovative audiovisual content.

MEDIA Antenna Berlin Brandenburg

The adjacent to the Media Board MEDIA Antenna Berlin Brandenburg is one of the four German Information Office of the MEDIA program in Brussels. She advises producers, distributors, cinema operators, festival, as well as other companies in the audiovisual about the funding possibilities of the MEDIA program and support during the application process. Capital Regions for Cinema ( CRC)

Four times a year, during the film festivals in Berlin, Cannes, Rome and San Sebastian, pitching European producers within the CRC meeting their new projects.
