Medifoxamin is a drug that was used prior to its withdrawal from the market for the treatment of depression. It acts as a dopamine reuptake inhibitor and as an agonist at the 5HT2A and 5HT2C receptor. The Merck daughter Lipha sales Medifoxamin as part of a drug under the trade name Cledial.
Medifoxamin was used mainly in France. 1999, it was taken off the market because rare but severe cases of liver damage have been reported.
