Medley is a town in Miami -Dade County in the U.S. state of Florida with 838 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Geography

Medley is located 7 km north- west of Miami. Adjacent municipalities are Hialeah and Hialeah Gardens.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 838 inhabitants distributed in 350 households. The population density was 85.5 inh. / Km ². 93.1 % of the population were white, 1.0% African American and 0.2 % Native American. 2.7% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.0% of different ethnicities. 92.2 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 53.2 % of all households lived in 24.6 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 67.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.52 persons and the average family size is 2.96 people.

17.5 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 17.4% were 20-39 years old, 30.1% were 40-59 years old and 35 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 48 years. 48.6 % of the population were male and 51.4 % female.

The average annual income was $ 25,625, while 20.8 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 16.34 % of the population spoke Spanish and 83.65 %.

Traffic

The metropolitan area is crossed or affected by U.S. Highway 27 and the Florida State Roads 25 and 826 ( Palmetto Expressway). The Miami International Airport is located 8 km southeast of the city. Medley has at the terminus Palmetto connection to the suburban railway Miami -Dade Metrorail towards downtown Miami.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 418 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) within the average range. There was a murder, three robberies, twelve injuries, 30 burglaries, 263 thefts and 46 car thefts.
