Mednogorsk

Mednogorsk (Russian Медногорск ) is a territory under its city with 27 292 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ) in the Orenburg Oblast in Russia. It is located south of the Ural Mountains on the road and the railway line between the cities of Orenburg and Orsk. The nearest town is 15 km away Kuwandyk of Mednogorsk.

History

The town was laid off in 1933 with the construction of a copper - mining combine. Yet since the beginning of the 20th century was here on the railway line Orenburg Orsk entrance of a tunnel and a passing place, which is why the town was originally simply passing point No. 10 ( Разъезд № 10) was called. The later name chosen Mednogorsk leans contrast to the mining and means something like " copper mining town ."
