The Medumba is one of the eleven bantoiden Bamileke languages. Medumba is spoken mainly in the department of Ndé with the most important settlements Bangangté and Tonga.

The Medumba is of Egyptian origin on the basis of the Bamileke. Its name comes from Medu MBa, one derived from the ancient Egyptian language Medu Neter language, and means " divine language ". The population is the result of several waves of immigration from ancient Egypt.

The standard dialect is the batongtou.
