Meehanite

Meehanite cast iron is the legally protected trademark of a number of highly developed cast iron materials. These are made suitable by combining their mechanical properties for certain technical purposes. A certification issued by the U.S. to Augustus F. Meehan patent is named for these materials, in which, by means of a special method of vaccination CaSi alloys a very fine graphite is formed in the microstructure.

It was developed in the U.S. by Meehan and Smalley in the 1920s.
