Megacolon

As megacolon ( altgr. μέγας mégas "large", Latin for colon " colon " ) is called an associated with chronic Verstopftheit enlargement ( dilatation) of the colon.

We distinguish the primary form, the congenital Hirschsprung's disease ( congenital megacolon ), of the secondary forms, which are caused for example by Chagas disease or ulcerative colitis. A rare but life-threatening special form represents toxic megacolon
