MegaFon

MegaFon (Russian МегаФон ) is a Russian telecommunications company headquartered in Moscow. It is one of the leading mobile service providers in the country in the GSM and UMTS standards.

MegaFon was established in May 2002 by the merger of several regional wireless service provider. From the corporate form wise, it is a public limited company; the three largest shareholders are the Russian holding Telekom Invest ( Телекоминвест, ≈ 32%) Finnish- Swedish telecommunications company TeliaSonera ( ≈ 36%) and the Russian Alpha Group ( ≈ 25.1 %). According to the results of 2009, the company turnover was 181.9 billion rubles at a net profit of 45.3 billion rubles. The number of customers amounted in November 2010, according to own data to 55.79 million.

The society is divided into several within Russia regional branches, each occurring as a separate trade marks.
