Meghan Agosta-Marciano

Meghan Agosta - Marciano ( born Agosta, born February 12, 1987 in Windsor, Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who plays for the Montreal Stars in the Canadian Women's Hockey League since 2011. As the youngest player of the Canadian national team, she won the gold medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Since her marriage to Marc Marciano, the goalkeeper coach of the national team in August 2012, she bears a double name.

Career

Meghan Agosta began at the age of six years with the sport of ice hockey, having previously practiced figure skating. She played as a teenager for the Chatham Cyclones and Windsor Wildcats. In 2003, she won at the Canada Games with Team Ontario gold medal in her age group. In addition, she won the IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship in 2004 with the Canadian National team the gold medal.

In August 2004, she moved to Calgary to train with the women's team. Your first application in Team Canada she had the 4 Nations Cup 2004. Ahead of the 2006 Olympic Games she was one of the most successful players in the women's selection. During this period, she received offers from various U.S. colleges to play for their Ice Hockey teams that beat out Agosta in regard to optimum Olympic preparation.

At the Winter Games Agosta won with the national team the gold medal and scored on her 19th birthday a hat-trick against the Russian women's team.

After this success, they began a study in criminal justice at Mercyhurst College and has performed since then for the ice hockey team of the college, the Mercyhurst Lakers, in the CHA. In the 2006/07 season the Lakers won the championship of their College Football, but only reached the playoff quarterfinals of the NCAA. After the season, Agosta was nominated for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award and managed to be the first so-called freshman into the final round of nominations this award. In addition, she was elected to the First Team All-American and awarded the CHA Player of the Year.

Two years later, Agosta the Mercyhurst Lakers as captain to the final of the NCAA national championship in the team of the University of Wisconsin was defeated with 0:5. Meghan Agosta again received several awards and was among the final three candidates for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award.

At the 2010 Winter Olympics Agosta scored nine goals and six assists, two more hat-tricks and won with Team Canada again the gold medal. Whether its performance, she was awarded the most valuable player of the tournament and was elected to the All- Star team.
