The Meguro Station (Japanese目 黒 駅, Meguro -eki ) is located in Shinagawa in Tokyo Prefecture on the border with Meguro and is located directly south of the road Meguro - dori. The station is served by the Yamanote Line, and is the terminus of two subway lines that are bound by the Meguro line. He is approached by four lines of four different companies.

History

The Meguro station was opened on 16 March 1885 as a passenger station. About 25 years after the opening he was first approached on 12 October 1909 by the Yamanote Line. 14 years later, on March 11, 1923, the station for the first time from the Kamata Meguro Dentetsu (now Tōkyū ) was served. It was not until more than 75 years later, the station of a third party, the Toei Subway, whose station was hit opened on 6 August 2000. Since 1 April 2004, the station is served by a fourth line of another railway company, the Namboku line of the Tokyo Metro.

Design and tracks

The Meguro station was built as a through station. He has four north-south trending tracks and is hit by a total of four companies. The two aboveground tracks go to a central platform and are served by the Yamanote Line. The two underground tracks, which are also approached on a central platform to be used by three companies. This track 1 is used in parallel by the Meguro line of Tōkyū and track 2 from both the Namboku line of the Tokyo Metro as well as the Toei Mita Line subway.

The Meguro Station is served by the Yamanote Line and the Namboku line of the Tokyo Metro and is reported in the line plan of the company as the top station of this line. In addition to the Tokyo Metro train station is also served by the Toei Subway Mita Line with. On the line plan of the company the station is specified as the initial station of the line. The fourth company, which operates the station, is the Tōkyū with the Meguro line, for this is listed on the power company's plan of Meguro as a railhead. The color codes used in the following table correspond to the assigned line colors of the respective company.

Near the station are among other things the headquarters of Pioneer and the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum (东京 都 庭园 美术馆, Tōkyō-to Teien Bijutsukan )

Use

In 2007, the Yamanote Line was used at the station from an average of 105 073 passengers a day, so that the rank 33 took over 900 on the ranking of the busiest train stations of JR East in 2007. The Namboku line was used in the fiscal year from an average of 86 549 passengers a day. To Mita Line Toei average of 37 043 passengers are disembarked at the railway station and 36 249 in 2007. In 2007, Meguro Line of Tōkyū at the station on average 135 432 passengers, and 85 997 dropped out.
