Mehdi Dibaj

Mehdi Dibaj (* 1935, † June or July 1994) was a convert to Christianity from Islam Iranians, the pastor later.

Dibaj converted to Christianity at an early age and joined the Jama'at -e Rabbani at church. After 1979, he became increasingly under the pressure of the Iranian regime. This meant that he had been arrested and taken prisoner in 1983, however against him no sentence has been passed. While in custody, he was systematically tortured by his jailers. On 3 December 1983, he was sentenced to death by the Islamic court for apostasy. During his trial, Dibaj shouted the following words in the courtroom: " I am not only satisfied to be in prison for the honor of His Holy Name, but am ready to give my life for the sake of Jesus my Lord. "

Due to worldwide protests that had been more, initiated by his friend, Bishop Haik Hovsepian Armenian, succeeded in securing the release Dibajs 1994, despite his death sentence has not been revoked. Three days later Haik Hovsepian was more abducted and murdered. Dibaj was abducted on 24 June 1994, his body was found on July 5 in the western Tehran park.
