The Mehlis report is a report prepared for the United Nations Security Council investigation report on the bombing of the former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri on 14 February, 2005 in Beirut. Following the recommendation of FitzGerald report the Berlin public prosecutor Detlev Mehlis instructed the Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, on 20 May 2005 with the investigation. On 20 October 2005 Mehlis submitted the first report Annan to the Security Council and the Lebanese government.

First press reports, there were evidence that would point to an involvement of Syrian political and military figures in the assassination.

Mehlis occurred on 15 December 2005 from his post as Commissioner back; he was succeeded by the Belgian lawyer Serge Brammertz. The Commission's mandate has now been extended until 15 June 2008.

In early February 2006, the German Commission members were withdrawn by the federal government.
