Mehmet Özhaseki

Mehmet Özhaseki ( * 1957 in Kayseri ) is a Turkish politician of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi and since 1998 the mayor of Kayseri.

After finishing high school in Kayseri Özhaseki began to study in Ankara Electrical Engineering at Hacettepe University. After termination of studies, he moved to the University of Istanbul, to study law. After an internship in the courthouse from Kayseri he moved without his profession at the head of the family business, which operates in the textile sector. He remained there until 1994.

From 1980 he worked for the needy in the area auxiliary foundations, associations and organizations.

After Özhaseki 1994 entered into politics, he was elected mayor of the district of Kayseri Melikgazi elected in the local elections on 27 March 1994. On June 23, 1998, he was appointed by the council to the mayor of Kayseri, after his predecessor Şükrü Karatepe had to resign. In the elections of 2009, he received 61 percent of the vote. He is thus the first politician who holds this office for four election periods.

Özhaseki is also for 7 years President of the composite historical cities, including 15 cities and 328 municipalities that have set themselves the goal to protect the natural, historical and cultural values ​​in Turkey.

He is married and has four children. On foreign language skills he can produce English and Arabic.

He is also an honorary member of two football clubs Kayserispor and Erciyesspor.
