Mehrum Power Station

The power plant Mehrum is a German hard coal power plant. It is located on the Mittelland Canal in Mehrum at Hohenhameln district of Peine. It has a net output of 690 MW ( gross capacity: 750 MW), the block 3 is still in operation was completed in 1979. The net electrical efficiency is 40.5 %. In the power plant are 133 persons employed (as of 2006).

The chimney of the power station is 250 meters high. The coal delivery via an inland port on the Mittelland Canal, which is close to the power plant.

Within an hour from the combustion of 2.5 million m³ flue gas and 24 tons of fly ash. Addition to hard coal 144 tons of sewage sludge are burned in this plant per day.

The power plant has two shareholders:

• Stadtwerke Hannover AG ( 83.3 % share)
• Braunschweiger supply -AG & Co. KG ( 16.7 % share)
