Meiersberg

Meier is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in eastern Mecklenburg -Vorpommern. It is at the Szczecin Lagoon, based in Eggesin managed by the Office.

Geography

Meier Mountain is an elongated Anger village on the road from Ueckermuende after Ferdinandshof on the western edge of the Ueckermünder Heath. On the outskirts along the Zarow which opens 8 km in the Szczecin Lagoon flows.

History

The village was founded in the 18th century by the settlement of colonists. Earlier, the chief forester Meyer by the Prussian King Friedrich II had obtained permission to build between the forester and the Jädkemühl Kuhmelkerei "Better Dran " a glassworks. This created in 1748 by the glassworks and related Teerofen the settlement Meyernberg ( after its namesake ). The spelling has changed later. Besides Meier mountain a settlement for 10 farmers and eight Kossäten, the cultivated the fields, which were caused by the felling was born. This settlement was called Schlabrendorff, after the Prussian war council and chamber director Ernst Wilhelm von Schlabrendorf. The town later grew along with Meier mountain. 1827 a church was built of fieldstone, which has very simple shapes. A fire in 1881 destroyed almost the whole village. Until the turn of the century Meier mountain was rebuilt.

Economy and infrastructure

The inhabitants are engaged in agriculture, forestry or commute to the adjacent cities. In the community of tourism should continue to play a greater role than the capital near the Szczecin Lagoon and the Ueckermünder Heath is regarded.

In Ferdinandshof about 5 km away is railway connection ( Berlin - Anklam - Stralsund ) and connection to the national road network (B 109 Prenzlau - Pasewalk - Anklam ).
