Miles is a municipality and capital of the district in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland.

History

Mile Rorenhaab is a prehistoric settlement site on Lake Zurich in the field of community miles. The place name is first recorded in 880 as Meilana in a goods classification of the Zurich Grossmünster. The Friedberg castle has been preserved as a ruin. Between 1990 and 2000 various artifacts such as shoe lace, or other everyday objects were found during excavations at the ruins. Most finds come from the Sodbrunnen, which was probably used by the object of the castle as a dumping ground. You can see the objects as well as the reconstruction and pictures from that time in the local museum of miles.

Traffic

By Miles leads the right bank Zürichseebahn. The local train station is served by the S-Bahn Zurich with two lines:

  • S 6 (Baden AG - ) Otelfingen - Rain Village - Zurich HB - Uetikon
  • S 7 Winterthur HB - Kloten - Zurich HB - Miles - Rapperswil

Another station in the community is Herrliberg field miles. Miles is connected to the well-developed bus network of transport companies and Zurich Oberland. There are links course with ships of Lake Zurich Navigation Company and Lake Zurich ferry Horgen miles.
