Meitar

Meitar (Hebrew מיתר ) is a municipality in the northern part of the Negev desert in Israel. The village had 2005 6600 inhabitants in the year.

Meitar located 15 km north-east of Beersheba, on the road Beersheba - Hebron. Just north of the village is the gateway to the West Bank.

The town was founded in 1980 and in 1984 the first homes were purchased. The place is dominated by single-family homes and the socio-cultural level of the inhabitants is among the highest in Israel.

Meitar belongs to the wealthy satellite towns Beerschebas, including Lehawim and Omer belong.
