Melanie Doane

Melanie Doane ( born December 19, 1967 in Halifax ) is a Canadian singer- songwriter.

Doane, daughter of a music teacher and sister of the drummer Creighton Doane, learned in childhood, several instruments, including piano, bass, violin and mandolin. In 1995, she released her first single titled Melanie. They aroused interest at the label Sony Music, where in the following year their debut album Shakespearean Fish appeared. Widths success they had with their second album Adam 's Rib (1998). She got this the Juno Award for Best New Artist and the Canadian Radio Award for Most Charted rock artist and had more than 200 appearances in Canada. After Melvin Live (2001) was published in 2003 her album You Are What You Love. Their recent albums are A Thousand Nights (2008) and The Emerald City ( 2011).
