Melbourne Jazz Festival

The Melbourne International Jazz Festival is an annual two weeks in June that takes place in Melbourne Jazz Festival. It is with some interruptions since 1998.

Venues are scattered throughout the city, including both concert halls and clubs.

It included performances by Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Branford Marsalis, Mark Murphy, Brad Mehldau, Dave Liebman, Pharoah Sanders, McCoy Tyner, Abdullah Ibrahim, James Morrison, Cindy Blackman, Bill Frisell, Terence Blanchard, Bill Frisell, Charles Lloyd, Peter Brötzmann, Han Bennink, John Abercrombie, Avishai Cohen, Sonny Rollins (2011), Joshua Redman, Charlie Haden and Vijay Iyer on.

2012 McCoy Tyner came on with Chris Potter and José James, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Patti Austin, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Hiromi Uehara and Terence Blanchard.

2013 occurred Cassandra Wilson, Christian McBride, Mike Stern, Chucho Valdés, Kneebody, Maria Schneider with Darcy James Argue and the Jazz Groove Mothership Orchestra, James Carter.

The artistic director took over in late 2006 Albert Dadon (who had since 2004 Chairman of the Festival Society), after one years ago Carlo Pagnotta (Head of the Umbria Jazz ) had tried his luck. They were dissatisfied with the balance of the festival in terms of Australian musicians.
