Melchior Anderegg

Melchior Anderegg ( born March 28, 1828 in fence near Meiringen, † December 8, 1914 in Hausen near Meiringen ) was a Swiss mountain guide and the first climber of some prominent western mountain peaks. He received in 1856 together with Christian Almer first Swiss mountain guide patent, so he - was referred to as "King of the leader" - in addition to his excellent mountaineering skills. Anderegg led mostly English customers, the best known of Leslie Stephen, was the co-founder of the English Alpine Club.
