Melchior Feselen

Melchior Feselen (* around 1495 probably in Passau, † April 10, 1538 in Ingolstadt ) was a German painter.

Feselen was active in Passau and Ingolstadt, where he died on 10 April 1538. He formed after Albrecht Altdorfer, introduced his paintings, although very busy, but could not free himself from a certain stiffness. The Munich Pinakothek preserved by him the siege of Rome by Porsena ( 1529) and the conquest of Alesia by Caesar ( 1533), which have been painted for Duke Wilhelm IV, the collection of the Historical Society of Ratisbon a Mary Magdalene, the Germanic Museum, a worship of the Magi.
