Melek Taus

Melek Taus or tausi Melek ( Angel Peacock also ) is a revered of the Kurdish Yazidi angel. As the first of seven angels he created the world and Adam and Eve in God's mission. Since tausi Melek refused, however, to kneel before Adam, he was raised to the highest angel and the protector and stewards of the Earth. The statement was a test, because God had been the first priority to the seven angels, they should worship only him. So symbolizes tausi Melek in the Yezidi theology not evil and is not a disgraced angel. After the Yezidi mythology, he has worshiped in a special way the omnipotence of God, and was therefore chosen by God to be the head of the seven angels. Though he wished to be the myth by itself once elevated to God, fell so out of favor, but he repented of his rashness and atoned for it in hell. His guilt was eventually forgive him, since he serves God as guardians of the world, as well as mediators and contact to the faithful. After the creation story of the Yazidis is Taus Melek -i, created by God with six other angels of His light to the whole of creation, to the divine plan, actively involved.

The Koran says that Iblis ( the Islamic devil) had refused out of arrogance and kneel down before Adam. This relationship is one of the reasons why the Yazidi have been for centuries and partially discriminated against until today as alleged " devil worshipers ". The importance and position of tausi Melek within the Yezidi faith can only be understood if one detaches from the Abrahamic perspective: The Yezidi conception of good and evil is different from the Christian and Islamic interpretation; an identification with the fallen angels (see Lucifer ) is therefore missed. The evil in the Yezidi mythology exists only in man himself ( free will). If a Jeside has done something bad in his life, spoken or even thought, the punishment is to be born again and to try again. However, anyone who behaves properly, come to God (heaven).

The most important incarnation of tausi Melek applies after jesidischem faith Sheikh Adi. The Yazidis worship seven sacred bronze or iron figures, which are regarded as incarnations of Melek Taus, and are called Sandzak.
