Melina Perez
Melina Nava Perez ( born March 9, 1979 in Los Angeles, California), better known by her ring name Melina, is an American professional wrestler.
Career
Before Melina turned to wrestling, she worked as a model. During this time, she was elected Miss California. After Pérez was convinced in 2001 by Mike Henderson thereof, to go into the professional wrestling, she went to work in " Jesse Hernandez 's School of Hard Knocks " to the training.
Melina's debut in the ring was 2002., You toured the independent wrestling scene. She performed at various Californian promotions, such as the "Empire Wrestling Federation " and the now closed " CRUSH All- Women " promotion, where she worked with Mickie James. While she ran as an independent organizer Kyra for different Southern California, she was awarded in December 2003 a contract with the Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental league, which then belonged to WWE.
Ohio Valley Wrestling
Perez made her debut in Ohio Valley Wrestling ( OVW shortly ) in March 2004. Cappotelli Matt was accompanied by Perez to a match against Johnny Nitro, switched sides and formed in the sequence with Nitro and Joey Mercury the Tag Team ( MNM ). Here Perez acted as a manager. On 10 November 2004 MNM won the OVW Southern Tag Team titles.
WWE
In 2005 she made her debut on SmackDown, one of the two main shows of the WWE, and continued this work in a team with Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro under the name MNM ( Mercury / Nitro / Melina ). MNM won several times the WWE Tag Team Champion. Most recently, she lost this 2006 Paul London and Brian Kendrick. Then the team was separated, Mercury remained on SmackDown, while Perez and nitro to another WWE RAW show changed.
February 19, 2007 Perez was the first time WWE Women's Champion after they won a match against Mickie James.
At WrestleMania European tour in Paris on 24 April 2007, she lost the title unplanned: With a title match against Victoria Perez and Mickie James Victoria forgot attempt at a cover of Mickie James auszukicken, so that the title had to change. In a rematch, however, immediately recognized Perez won back her title. Although not planned, both titles change from the WWE are officially recognized. On 24 June 2007, she lost the title then finally at the event WWE Vengeance Candice Michelle. In the aftermath Perez appeared regularly, even with pay- per-view events, in title fights on, without being able to win the title before she was injured in July 2008 and had to take a break until November.
After her return, she was involved in a feud program with the former title holder Beth Phoenix. On January 25, 2009 Perez defeated Beth Phoenix at the Royal Rumble and won for the third time the WWE Women's Championship. On 13 April 2009 she moved with her title as part of the WWE Draft to Smackdown. On 28 June 2009 the big event The Bash they had to give up her title to Michelle McCool.
Perez moved in the course of a Diva Trade on 12 October 2009 back to RAW. On the same day they played a title match against Jillian Hall, who had only minutes before won a battle for the WWE Divas Championship against Mickie James. By their victory Perez became the new title holder; as a third WWE Diva she could thus win both the Women's Championship and the Divas Championship.
At a house show she injured her knee and fell out. Since she could not defend her Divas Championship by the injury, the title was declared vacant. In the RAW output of 2 August 2010, she celebrated her then in ring comeback as they attacked the reigning Divas Champion Alicia Fox. On August 15, succeeded Perez after defeating Alicia Fox to gain the title. At Night of Champions on September 19, 2010, she had to lose the title again and McCool became the first Unified WWE Divas Champion in a title unification match against Michelle McCool Lumberjill. On August 5, 2011 Perez was dismissed.
