Melissa Gorman

Melissa Gorman ( born December 11, 1985 in Sydney ) is an Australian swimming athlete. It occurs on the long-range both in the pool and in open water. Her greatest success in open water is the World Championship title in 2009 over 5 km; in the pool, she was repeatedly Australian champion and reached at the 2004 Short Course World Championships and the bronze at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, the silver medal over 800 meters freestyle.

At the Olympic swimming events 2008 she took part in both the pelvis and on the open water competitions; about 800 m in the basin she failed as 17th overall in the flow, in the 10-km open water race she was 15 in 2010, she won at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi about 800 m freestyle bronze medal. In the swimming world championships in Shanghai in 2011, she won the silver medal in the team competition recently admitted into the program over five kilometers in 57:01,8 min 1.2 sec behind the United States ( 57:00,6 ) and 42.4 sec ahead of Germany ( 57: 44.2, with Isabelle Harle, Thomas Lurz and Jan Wolf Garten ).
