Melissa Hart (politician)

Melissa A. Hart ( born April 4, 1962 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American politician. Between 2001 and 2007, she represented the state of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Melissa Hart attended the North Allegheny High School and then to 1984 the Washington & Jefferson College in Washington ( Pennsylvania). After a subsequent law studies at the University of Pittsburgh and its 1987 was admitted as a lawyer, she began to work in this profession. She has worked as a specialist in real estate law for a law firm in Pittsburgh. At the same time they hit as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1991 and 2000 she was sitting in the Senate of Pennsylvania. There, she led at times the Finance Committee.

In the congressional elections of 2000, Hart was in the fourth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where they succeeded the Democrat Ron Klink on 3 January 2001. After two re- elections she was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 2007, three legislative periods. In this time the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, the Iraq war and the military mission in Afghanistan fell. In 2006, she won with 48:52 percent of the vote against Jason Altmire.

In the 2008 elections, she defeated Altmire again. In 2012, they sought a return to the Senate of Pennsylvania; while they failed in the primaries of their party. Today Melissa Hart works for a large law firm.
